The glut in the Medicaid of fice is attributed by officials to the fact that the 34th Street office is currently the only one in the city processing Medicaid applications and payments. ![]() This has slowed the department's ability to provide services, said one case supervisor. Case workers and their supervisors, however, claimed that clients were not always getting service because many existing case workers are used in other categories. Last week the department announced that it had saved $39‐million by employing few er case workers under the new system. ![]() ![]() The Social Service Depart ment contended that the jam in the centers is attributable to a reorganization that shifted clerical details in money mat ters to clerks and made case workers responsible for pro viding services to recipients and their families.
